After reading Frederica I thanked my lucky stars that Georgette Heyer was such a prolific writer and that she lived a long life. Felix who is obsessed with steam technology and stows away aboard a steam ship and then aboard a hot air balloon and convinces Alverstoke that it’s an amazing treat for Alverstoke to visit a foundry that uses steam technology.
She selflessly cared for those around her. I like the way all the family members are developed. Frederica herself, a gay and witty charmer, believes herself happily beyond marriageable age — she is twenty-four, after all.

Their dialogue when they’re together is quite fun and sparkling and witty. I have to say that I shared his impatience with Charis — beautiful and well-mannered though she might be; the girl was a bit of a dim bulb.
