Throughout this specification the use of the term alloy in the general sense includes bb316 as well as aluminum alloy. Resistance to stress corrosion cracking for each lot of specimen shall be established by testing the previously selected tension-test samples for lot acceptance purposes.

Samples for chemical analysis shall be taken from the material by drilling, sawing, milling, turning, or clipping a representative piece or b16 to obtain a prepared sample.
On the other hand, an inspection lot shall consist of an identifiable quantity of material of the same mill form, alloy, temper, and nominal diameter subjected to inspection for non heat-treated tempers.
