It has the occasional moment that isn’t total clear, but I just directed any questions to this subreddit and I’m having a good experience with it. This book is focused on outlines. There are multiple reasons why someone might prefer to get an answer from reddit instead.
I find it too I haven’t got a clue where to start for improvisation, but assume you should start on phrases over s. Another book, “Connecting Chords With Linear Harmony”, is, perhaps, more of what you are looking for. Please know that Wikipedia is especially bad for music theory topics.

His other book, connecting chords with linear harmony is a good, remedy against scale thinking. Been through approximately half of Jazzology. Ear training apps and websites here! I can easily say the same thing about theory- I also didn’t understand a lot about chords and voice leading until i learned it on piano as well.

Happy New Year ! Jazzology is a good alternative, a bit of a lighter read but still covers everything Bert Ligon has two other books, Connecting Chords With Linear Harmony and Comprehensive Technique for Jazz Musicians.
How can you think like that at bpm? I found the outlines jaz really useful when I figured out how to extend their length to double so they last for a full measure of eight notes instead of gheory two beats when in eighth notes as shown thoughout most of his book.
It is against the Academic Betr Policy of most schools and courses. The Jazz Theory book by Mark Levine is a very well written, and easy to read, with lots of visual examples. Levine and actually buy it, but from what I’ve read on it, it’s an amazing tool for learning jazz theory.

I don’t like the coursers thing. Learn standards, use rrsources fake book to help you with it but try to learn it by ear first.
