Hopefully everyone who re Shari Maurer, the author, offered my teen-age daughter and me an opportunity to talk extensively about a book we both loved but perceived in different ways. Our body suddenly shutting down, failing us, leaving us helpless and weak. He offers something to Emmi no one else can and is a highly likable, swoon worthy character.

Emmi had to learn to be happy again just like Hazel Grace had to do the same after “Gus’s” death. Booklist gives a recommended reading level of 9th th grade. I knew Change of Heart would be one of those books. Though driven by hormones at times, the way he cares for Emmi is clear. Emmi has two other close friends, Becca and Sam. Will she even survive the surgery?

Jun 10, Angela M rated it really liked it. It was very interesting to see how someone’s life could change in an instant. Her friend Becca is a good supporting character, and makes some mistakes that hurt Emmi but it is easy to understand where the mistake stems from.

The plot of this novel was a little slow towards the middle because it seemed to drag on and repeat itself. Emmi is a well balanced character at the start, having some teenage moments bu A refreshing and new premise for YA but a tragically real situation for some, Change of Heart throws into question the value of life as a cgange. The author did a good job showing how human Emmi is and how she later forgave Becca and Sam.

That is until one day she gets diagnosed with a heart problem. When I read the description of this book I knew what it was going to be about and I expected some heart-wrenching moments, drama, and possibly a sad ending. Anger, frustration, hope, dread, worry, hopelessness, “why me” and faith that things maurrr work out.

People felt awkward around her and she showed the readers, all the ups and downs in her life. Without a question, this was an engaging read.

My interpretation left me with a reminder of how precious each day of our lives is and not to take anything, especially your health for granted. Donating an organ may save as many as eight lives.

I really wanted it to be perfect and for Emmi and Abe to end up together. The book started out okay, but as it went on, the writing got worse and the plot became unbearable.

It was much more interesting to read the author’s web site http: You never know when your whole life can change. You will experience murer with Emmi all her frustration, excitement and dhari way she starts to understand that life is something to enjoy, and that things happen, but mostly that life goes on.

It really makes you realize how horrible situations can bring you closer to other people. My one complaint would be that there are a few events that take place, that while understandable, are so sudden that they took me by surprise.

Now she can barely walk across a room without stopping to rest. Cgange really appreciated how the author incorporated other parts of Emmi’s life as an insecure teenager into the plot instead of focusing solely on the medical side of the story.
