This book helped me at a time in my life when I was housebound for seven years. First, Claire Weekes uses the old-fashioned term “nervous illness,” which, for some reason, sounds less threatening to me than the word anxiety. However, I believe that this was d I purchased this and another Claire Weekes book Peace From Nervous Suffering due to the struggles with anxiety I have seen people close to me go through but I ended up seeing bits of myself throughout the whole book.

Cannot recommend highly enough.

Think of this book like a sweet old grandmother I don’t know how old she was, but she died in walking you through desensitization therapy. It starts with a breakdown of how your body physically responds to stress, followed by a simple four-step process to acknowledge and ‘go with’ the anxiety, before touching on a wide range of various types of anxiety ranging from depression to obsession, and how her same approach can pretty much apply to all.

While she was at the library to pick up another title, this book was just sitting there, on display. Weekes lectured at psychiatric hospitals in Britain and spoke often on radio and television both in Britain and in the United States. It has changed my life in ways that are incomprehensible!

Paul David’s book nervrs last a life’ is a great book as well to overcome anxiety, his recovery was based on Dr Weekes work as well and is a little more up to date.
