The rich range of examples that the chapters explore—organized as interrogations of labor, entrepreneurialism, location, and economics—are drawn chiefly from London, but her concerns about the incursions of neoliberal capitalism speak to us all. Historically, of course, the UK has been a relatively generous state supporter of the arts, but the current conservative government took some pride, inin slashing 30 percent from that part of its budget.
